Rising Sun
Clans must use politics, strength and honour to rule the land in this board game with amazing miniatures set in legendary feudal Japan.
The Main set
The box set arrived and it was crammed with the excellence you would come to expect from Cool Mini or Not (CMON). This is what you should expect when buying the game from the store.
On the top is the rule book, then there was a cardboard box and a plastic container.
Everything was tightly packed together. This is all very well, but does mean that multiple boxes will be required when playing the game, as the Diamyo box will have a lot of the upgrades to the cardboard components.
The contents
The rulebook is 28 pages long, but the content is not crammed in tight together like some rulebooks to cut down on costs. There are large images throughout the rules, and good explanations (keep in mind i have not yet played the game, that will be happening soon). While i was reading the rules, i felt that i knew what to expect from the game, what order and any potential confusions. This is how a rulebook should be written.
The monsters were concealed in this fairly large cardboard box. The quality was mind blowing. They were much better than i was expecting and i know i will have a great time painting these in the future.
The other cardboard box (under the plastic container) were the clans. I checked over the figures and didn't notice any issues with the product or quality of them.
Under both of these, was the board and the cardboard components to play the game with.
Some of the monsters in the game
Bonsai Clan
Dragonfly Clan
Koi Clan
Lotus Clan
Turtle Clan
Fox Clan
As this was a Kickstarter, there were obviously a number of exclusives that backers would get for helping to make the game a reality. These were delivered in the Diamyo box, a solid cardboard box with artwork on.
This box contained a number of upgrades to the the cardboard components within the main game. These include models for the strongholds, flags, plastic tokens, upgraded Political Mandate tiles. With these being included in a game, i believe the overall experience will be increased.
A new clan in also introduced, the Fox clan. The game is for 3-5 players, so this extra clan does not appear to increase it to a 6 player game, but will give a little more choice to the clans to be played. 10 new Monsters are also included, along with the corresponding cards.

Kami Unbound box and figures
Also included in the Kickstarter delivery was Kami Unbound. These are the models for the Kami that already appear within the game. This box also contains some extra optional rules that can be used when playing, which essentially allows the god to help out those that worship to them.
The last box was an expansion pack that contained 4 new monsters to be used within the game.
Monster box
This was a $100 dollar pledge, and i must admit, i feel like i got a LOT more product for the amount i paid out. Obviously, this is purely based on the content of the boxes received. The figures and the challenge to paint them in the future alone is worth the price. If the game is fun to play, then that will be a massive added bonus for me.
I am very glad i backed this project from CMON. This is my 4th project backed by them, and i will certainly be backing more, if the game and models interest me of course.
Now i just need to play with game. When i do, i will do a write up of it.
