Continuing my series of Tabletop games - a card game with only a basic rule to start off with - pick 1 card, play 1 card. I must admit, I never heard of Fluxx until we played it on one of our first gaming nights. It soon became a favourite and one we will play while waiting for a food order (its either this or Sushi Go). There are many different flavours of Fluxx, we have Star Fluxx, Batman Fluxx and Monty Python Fluxx. They all play very similar.

What's it all about?

Everyone is dealt a number of cards at the beginning of the game. The only rule to start off with is to pick one card from the top of the pile, and to play one card. Some of the cards you will have in your hand could be rule cards. When these are played, they change the rules of the game. For example, you have to pick up 3 cards, but play all but 1 card in your hand. This provides a wild game where it is very difficult to judge what the rules will be at any one point. Some rules will negate other rules, while some will be additional - its all explained on the card.

To win the game, you need to match a goal. There are no goals to start with, so a goal card will need to be played. These goals change on a frequent basis, so do not plan long term. Goals can be matched when you place a Keeper in front of you. These are cards that provide certain abilities to you, but are essentially there for goals. Goals will generally require 2 keepers are present in front of you - but could require more. Once you have matched the goal, you win and the game finishes. Creepers are the bas keepers - they can cause issues and even stop you winning the game. Creepers HAVE to be played AS SOON as you get them.

Events and Action cards provide extra fun to cause your opponents troubles.

This is a fast and fun game to play. Its unpredictable and very random, which may not be to everyone's taste. It's cheap and there are many versions to suits your interests. You do NOT need more than 1 game, as they generally do not mix well. For a quick palate cleanser, this is a great game - up there with Sushi Go.
